2009 is considered by many experts as one of the best vintages in living memory. It was a summer to remember with high temperatures and virtually no rain for more than 10weeks. Perfect.

The pruning and tying of the vines is finished. The first leaves burst out this week.

Trying to keep the grass and weeds under control without chemicals is a constant battle, but we are rewarded with an abundance of birds, insects and wild flowers ......

 Puy l'Eveque, the perfect terroire

The region around Puy l'Eveque (Bishop's Mount) is home to a number of France's top vineyards. It is also the oldest winegrowing region of France.

The first vines were brought here by the Roman legions around 2000 years ago, and the region has become renowned for it's distinctive, "black" wine based primarily on the Malbec grape. It has a fascinating history.
